The part nobody fixes

When a sewer line is repaired or replaced, homeowners are usually left with a torn-up lawn, a sunken trench and piles of mixed soil. The plumbing is done, but the yard is now your problem.
Restored properly, so it does not sink
If the ground is not compacted and graded correctly, the trench settles, water collects and the grass comes in patchy. Disturbed areas are filled, compacted and regraded, topsoil goes down, and the lawn is restored with seed or sod blended into the existing grass.
A clean finish
Whether the whole front yard was dug up or one strip across it, the goal is a level, green lawn that blends in with the rest of the property.

Fall planting and cleanups
Roots grow in warm fall soil while cooler air takes the stress off new plants. It is also the time to cut back perennials and grasses, trim overgrown shrubs and get the leaves off the lawn before winter. More in our guide to the best time to landscape in Western New York.
Questions about lawn repair after sewer line work
Not seeing yours? Call (716) 671-4971 and ask Patrick, or read the common questions.
How soon after sewer work can the lawn be repaired?
Once the plumbing work is finished and inspected. The sooner it is regraded, the less settling and erosion.
Will the repaired area sink later?
Not if it is compacted and graded properly before topsoil and seed or sod go down, which is the whole point.
Seed or sod for a sewer trench?
Sod gives an instant finish; seed costs less. We will match the repair to the rest of your lawn.
