Landscape design around Hamburg

A dated front yard is easy to spot. Shrubs planted long ago now hide the windows. Beds have no clear edge. A single row of evergreens runs along the foundation and nothing else. You know it needs work, but not where to start.
That is what landscape design is for. Two of the front-yard transformations on this site are in Hamburg. Both yards were overgrown and dated, and both were redesigned and replanted.
Our base in West Seneca is about 9 miles away, so Patrick can come out, walk the property and talk through ideas without a long wait.
You end up with a front yard that suits the house, beds that are simple to keep up and plants with room to grow.

Landscape design in Hamburg: what to know
Two Hamburg redesigns
Both Hamburg projects started the same way, with a tired front yard. Old plants that had outgrown their spots came out. New beds were laid out with clean lines, and new shrubs went in with space to fill out. The before and after photos are on our Hamburg landscaping page.
Other Hamburg work includes beds brought back with trimming and fresh mulch, and a thin lawn brought back with seeding. A design often ties those pieces together into one plan.
Landscape design across the town of Hamburg
The town runs inland from the Lake Erie shore, with Eighteen Mile Creek along its southern edge. It takes in the villages of Hamburg and Blasdell, plus lakeside communities like Wanakah and Athol Springs.
Homes vary a lot across that area, so there is no standard plan. A yard in the village near Route 62 and Route 75 calls for a different design than one off Route 5 by the lake. We plan around the house, the lot, how you use the yard and how much upkeep you want.
Designed for Western New York weather
Plants here have to handle clay soil, wet springs and heavy snow. We pick shrubs and perennials that suit the spot, keep foundation plantings back from where the roof drops snow, and leave space by the driveway for the plow pile.
If your plan includes a patio or a wall, the Town of Hamburg Building Inspection department is the office to ask about permits. Village residents may need their village office instead. We check during planning.
What a landscape design costs
The cost depends on the size of the area, how much has to come out, the number and size of new plants and whether hardscape is part of it. The consultation is free, and our guide to landscape design cost explains what moves the number.

Questions about landscape design in Hamburg
Not seeing yours? Call (716) 671-4971 and ask Patrick, or read the common questions.
Do you do landscape design in Hamburg, NY?
Yes. Hamburg is a regular stop for us, and two of our front-yard redesigns are there.
Can you redesign just the front yard?
Yes. Many projects start with the front yard because it gets seen the most. The backyard can follow later, using the same plan.
Will you keep any of my existing plants?
If they are healthy and in the right place, yes. Good mature shrubs can anchor a new design. Plants that are overgrown or crowding the house usually come out.
Does the same crew install the design?
Yes. The crew that plans the yard also installs it, so nothing gets lost between the drawing and the dig.
