Retaining walls in West Seneca, NY
Landscape and retaining walls for beds and yard grades, built on a proper base so they hold up to Buffalo winters.
Walls for beds and yard grades
Kielty Landscaping builds landscape and retaining walls for homeowners in West Seneca and the nearby towns. A wall can hold a bed, shape an island or deal with a change in the grade of the yard. Built together with the plantings, it gives the property clean structure.
Four new walls in Grand Island
Our Grand Island project shows what walls can do. Island beds were resized and reshaped with four new landscape walls. The cut-out areas were sodded and new plants went in. The photos on this page are from that job.
A base that lasts
Most hardscape problems come from what is underneath. Proper excavation, base and compaction keep walls from heaving through freeze-thaw cycles. That prep is done before the first course of the wall goes down.

How it works
How a wall project runs.
The same steps we follow on every project, from the first look at the yard to the final walkthrough. More on our process.
Free consultation
Patrick comes out, looks at the yard and talks through what you want and the options. Slope and drainage are part of that first look.
Plan and materials
Layout, materials and timing are agreed up front. We walk you through the stone options so you can choose what fits.
Excavation and base
The line of the wall is dug out, the base goes in and it is compacted. If the ground needs reshaping before anything goes in, that prep comes first.
Wall, sod and plants
The wall is built, then the beds are planted and the lawn around them is seeded or sodded. The area is graded and cleaned up so it looks finished.
Final walkthrough
We walk it with you at the end so everything is finished properly.
Walls and grading go together
A wall is often part of a bigger change to the yard. Yard grading reshapes the ground so it is smooth, even and slopes water away from the house. We do both, so the wall and the grade can be planned as one job. Once the grade is right, the area can be seeded or sodded.
What decides the cost of a wall
Every yard is different, so there is no single price for a retaining wall. The number depends on the size of the wall, the stone you choose and the base preparation underneath. Access matters too: whether equipment can get into the backyard, or everything has to go through a gate by hand. The estimate is free. Our landscaping cost guide explains the rest.
Based in West Seneca
We are locally owned in West Seneca and work across the Southtowns. Grand Island is further out, but for larger projects the drive is worth it. See the Grand Island page or more photos on recent jobs.
Fall 2026
Plant this fall. Thank yourself in spring.
Roots grow in warm fall soil while cooler air takes the stress off new plants. It is also the time to cut back perennials and grasses, trim overgrown shrubs and get the leaves off the lawn before winter. More in our guide to the best time to landscape in Western New York.
