Paver patios in East Aurora, NY
A paver patio in East Aurora has to sit on a well dug, compacted base, or frost and wet clay will lift it within a few winters. We build patios that way and plan them with the beds and lawn around them, and the estimate is free.

Paver patios around East Aurora

A lot of East Aurora backyards have an old slab, a worn patch of lawn where the grill sits, or nothing at all. You want a place to sit outside that looks like it belongs with the house. A paver patio does that if it is placed well and built on a solid base.
Patrick starts by walking the yard with you. He looks at where people come out of the house, where the shade falls in the afternoon and where water goes after a heavy rain. The patio goes where it will actually get used.
One recent job of ours was a large-paver patio with pea gravel set between the stones. It turned a plain backyard into a finished outdoor space. That style suits older homes well, and it is one of several options we can walk you through.
We work out of West Seneca, about 12 miles from the village. Read about our paver patio service or the full list of work on the East Aurora landscaping page.

Paver patios in East Aurora: what to know
Paver patios built for East Aurora winters
East Aurora sits southeast of Buffalo, and winters here bring plenty of snow and repeated freeze and thaw. Water that collects under a patio freezes, expands and pushes the pavers up. The fix is underneath: the area is dug out, a base goes in and every layer is compacted.
We also look at drainage before anything is laid. If water sits where the patio will go, the ground gets reshaped first so it runs away from the house and off the stone.
A patio that suits an older home
The village is known for its preserved older homes, especially along Main Street and the streets off it. A patio behind a house like that should feel calm and solid, not flashy. Simple shapes, natural colors and planting along the edges usually look right.
Mature trees are common here too. We keep the patio clear of large roots where we can and plan shade plants and beds to soften the edges.
What changes the price of a patio
Size is the biggest factor, followed by the pavers or stone you choose and how much base work the ground needs. Access matters as well. A backyard reached only through a narrow gate takes longer than one where equipment can drive in.
Removing an old slab or regrading a slope adds work. Our paver patio cost guide covers each of these in more detail, and the estimate itself is free.
Permits and timing
Rules for patios can differ between the village and the rest of the Town of Aurora. Check with the Village of East Aurora, or the town if you live outside the village line, before work starts.
Hardscape can usually be built until the ground freezes, weather permitting. Fall is also a good time to plan a patio for spring, so the design and materials are settled and you are on the schedule early.

Questions about paver patios in East Aurora
Not seeing yours? Call (716) 671-4971 and ask Patrick, or read the common questions.
Do you build paver patios in East Aurora?
Yes. Patrick will come out to the village, look at the yard and give you a free estimate.
Why do some patios in this area heave after a few winters?
Usually the base was too thin or poorly compacted, so water got under the pavers, froze and lifted them.
Can you replace an old concrete slab with pavers?
Yes. The old slab comes out, the area is dug and rebuilt with a proper base, and the new patio goes in.
Can the patio work include new beds around it?
Yes. We often plan the patio, beds, edging and plantings as one project so everything fits together.
